Post 4 Jania Stevenson

Genesis Chapter 4 is about the sons of the first humans Adam and Eve. Adam and Eve's first two children were named Cain and Abel. Cain worked in the field as a "tiller of the ground" and Abel was a "keeper of sheep". As an offering to God, Abel gave up his very best sheep while Cain gave the worst of what he had as an offering. This incident exposed both brother's true feelings about God. Abel showed through his offering his true devotion while Cain only showed his selfishness, therefore causing God to put his favor with Abel. Cain became very jealous of Abel, so he took him into the woods and killed him, committing the very first murder. God spoke with Cain and through this found out that he had murdered his brother, and as punishment, Cain was exiled from the Garden of Eden. As extra punishment, he along with the rest of his descendants were cursed for all eternity.
I'm an only child so I really don't know much about having a sibling, but I do have an older cousin, who's basically like the sister I never had (or wanted). We fight very rarely, but when we do it's just because conflict is always going to be present between siblings. There are bound to be some disagreements, especially when you have to live in the same house with someone and be around them everyday for years. Problems are probably going to arise between you and your sibling(s), but they're just a part of life, so you have to deal with them and move on

  1. Your interpretation of the Cain and Abel story helped me understand the meaning behind it a little better. Although you don't actually have a sibling you did a pretty good job at connecting to the story. I like your moral of the story better than the actual moral behind the Cain and Abel story
