Noah and the Ark: Grace Goulson

God was disappointed with the humans so he decided to wipe them all out and start over again. He came to Noah (who was a good man) and told him of his plan to flood the Earth. God then specified the dimensions of an ark that Noah had to build and board while the Earth was being flooded. Noah was also instructed to bring a male and female of every kind of animal onto the boat, as well, so those species could continue. After the ark was completed and the animals and Noah and his family were loaded up, God made it rain for forty days and forty nights. After the initial flooding Noah sent out a dove, which eventually returned with a sign that it was safe to unload. All of the animals had babies, as did Noah's family, and God declared humans as rulers of animals. Noah lived for a few hundred years after the flood and died when he was 950.

The ostrich is one of the goofiest and most fascinating animals. It's unlike most other birds in appearance and size and has so many really cool, unique characteristics. For example: they can live up to 40 years in the wild, they can sprint up to 40 miles an hour, their legs can cover 16 feet in a single stride, their eyes are the largest of all land animals (2 in across), their kicks can be fatal to man, their eggs are 15 cm long, and they can grow up to 9 feet tall. They are like no other animal and are so different from other birds, and that's why I think they're so interesting.
