It begins
with God creating the light, dividing time into morning and evening. Then God
divided the waters into the seas, separated Heaven from earth, and created
grass, fruits, trees, animals and other living creatures, and finally man. It picks
up on the seventh day, where God’s work is done. He makes this the holy day.
God brings to life all of the creations from Genesis 1. He formed man from the
dust, raised trees from the ground, and then created the rivers. The first man
became known as Adam. God took Adam into the Garden of Eden to dress him. He
instructed Adam he could eat from every tree except for one, and that if he did
eat the forbidden fruit he would die. To keep him company God created all the
creatures, and Adam named them. After putting Adam under a deep sleep, he
created a woman out of his rib and declared them husband and wife. Then a
serpent tries to trick the woman into eating from the forbidden tree, telling
her that she won’t die and will actually become God-like. She ate the fruit and
gave her husband some as well. God found out that they’d eaten from the
forbidden tree. God punished the serpent, and the woman. The serpent is cursed
to slither on its belly and eat only dust. God declared that he would multiply
the woman’s sorrow, make childbirth painful, and make her submissive under her
husband.
My
origins:
My life is pretty different from Adam and Eve. I was born in
Lexington, KY to Tara Harris and Ruben Mitchell. My mother is from Harrodsburg
and my father is from Lexington. I was
the fourth of five kids (1 older brother, 2 older sisters, and one younger
sister). Growing up with so many siblings, I’ve gotten into several arguments.
I have lived here my entire life, and have lived a pretty unremarkable, average
life up until this point.
